TEAM ROMA-POLAND

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have
LIFE, and have it ABUNDANTLY. John 10:10

What an amazing summer we have had!!! After returning from our eight week
whirlwind in the states, by the way, it was so good seeing many of you again, we
were able to enjoy some time in Finland for our Annual General Meeting. This was
a great time of rest and relaxation and renewing before beginning our very busy
summer schedule.

A few days after getting back to Krakow we were ready to meet and serve with
Joe Palmer and International World Changers. Joe brought a team of 14 to do
outreaches in the parks of Nowa Huta near our Ministry Center. Their team made
a huge impact on the kids they met. As they played basketball, soccer,
volleyball, played cards, shared testimonies, skits, and made friendships these
boys and girls will never forget the love that was given to them because of
the love Jesus Christ has given to us.  On the last day several Polish boys
from one park decorated the playground with balloons saying goodbye ( in
English) on them and bought cookies and soda for a goodbye party for the
IWC team. It was raining and everything was getting wet, but as we stood eating
our cookies and singing Jesus Loves You, one little boy had tears in his eyes as
well as many of us. Investing yourself in others is truly the most
rewarding act one can do.

Pray with us for these kids as we begin this fall a kids ministry in Nowa Huta.

Pray for the six boys who prayed for salvation.
Pray for the several adults, moms, grandma's, and dad's that were
witnessed to
Pray for the Roma pre-school in our Ministry Center

We were also blessed to get to work with a group from Hixson Baptist,
Chattanooga,TN. They planned a VBS outreach for the Roma children in Szaflary.
They shared the Gospel through skits, sang songs, did crafts, and finished with
a cookout each day. Even though it rained everyday, everyone had a great time.
And it meant so much to the parents of the Roma children that people would come
so far to be with them. They were all encouraged to know they have many brothers
and sisters in Christ from all over the world praying for them.

Pray for the people of this village to be drawn to the love of God
Pray for the believers for continued strength and perseverance- they have a
very difficult life
Pray for baby Zechariah as he battles each day to breath. He has been in the
hospital twice this summer and is stable now, but nothing shy of a miracle can
cure him

Next was our Roma family camp. This was the first time the Roma believers led
the worship services as well as the children's program. It was incredible!!!
The music, the testimonies;  freely from their heart they poured out their
love for God. We had over 80 Roma people each evening at worship services.
These services lasted about three hours but you really didn't notice the
length of time. Twenty-nine decisions were made and 7 of these decisions
were for salvation. All were rejoicing to have this opportunity to gather
together and be at peace with each other and enjoy one another.

Thanks to the partnership with Fuge we will have many more family camps as this
one. Fuge has provided the finances for this camp and several more in the
future. Fuge has also been faithfully sharing the stories and prayer needs of
the Roma people of Poland all summer to thousands of campers in the US.

Pray with us and Fuge for the ROMA people of Poland:

Jacqui, Kari, and Abbe are doing extremely well. They have been busy with not
only our teams, but helping out with our Krakow teams too. They had a great time
with the Charleston Southern Basketball team and basketball camp. They have gone
to Budapest for a MK retreat and Wisla for a team retreat. And tomorrow, Sept.8,
starts our new school year. Jacqui will be in 11th grade, Kari 8th grade, and
Abbe 4th. They can't wait:)

Tara is happily married and living in Nashville, TN. She is working in the Opry
Mall next to Opryland and Will is a youth pastor at Inglewood Baptist. Tara will
be taking on line courses through Liberty in order to finish her business
degree.

Kristen is now happily engaged to Chris Cathell from NC. He will be graduating
from SouthEastern this Dec. and they are planning to marry on June 6, 2009 in
Wake Forest, NC. Kristen anticipates graduating from SouthEastern May 2010 with
an English degree.

Pray for our girls success in school and college.
Pray for their health and safety as we still feel so far away.
Pray for us to find a way to make Kristen's wedding:) for cheap flights so
we can all go; if anyone has flier miles they aren't using, we can put them
to use:)

Czesc!

Things in Poland are finally slowing down. Teams are all gone. It's been a
busy summer, but a great one!!

Two weeks ago my family had a Roma family camp. Camps are always great and I
was hoping there would be some teens there, so as buses came in and families got
off, I saw no teens. Oh boy was I bummed! Then Dad realized a bus from a village
wasn't here. So, he called one of our friends that was coming to camp and,
come to find out, 15 people from a village last minute couldn't come due to
loosing a family member. So, Dad went to a village close by and brought back 7
teens! I was happy until I saw that they were forced to come and wanted nothing
to do with God.

As the next day came around, I was bored out of my mind. (we had a lot of free
time) so I started banging on the table (a hand-clapping-music-thingy). One of
the teen guys came over to me and asked me to do it again. Before I knew it I
was teaching him and several others this hand-music-thingy. lol! That broke the
ice between me and the teens...5 of the teens gave their
lives to Christ that week. And I'm close friends now with them all!

God is great! He works in ways that I could have never realized! Who would have
thought that something so little can play a part in God's plan? God is
great!

Great camp. Great summer. AWESOME GOD!!!

Your sis in Him,
Jacqui

Hello from Jerry,
I wrote last because I knew that most people scroll past my part and get
straight to the families writings!! :)

I just want to thank you all for all of your prayers for us and for your
friendships.
We covet your prayers. We are never to busy to read emails from you all, so

God has been very good to us here. We have seen God do amazing things in so
many lives. I will be forever grateful for God calling us to Poland to see Him
at work!!!!!
God has blessed us with a husband and wife (couple) to serve on our Roma team.
Their names are Allan & Sue Weaver. They have been with us since last
October and they will serve 3 years here.We have not written a newsletter in a
long time so I wanted to remind you all again about Allan & Sue.
We are also excited to have a new team member on October 17th, her name is
Lindsay Cade. Lindsay will serve 2 years here on Team Roma too. We have know
Lindsay for a few years now, and she will be a great blessing to the Roma people
and our family as well.
We are excited about all of the teams we will have next year. Beginning in
March and April those 2 months will be back to back teams each week (Lord
willing). Then again in July and August we will do more Roma family camps each
week.
God has great plans for the Roma people in Poland and we are thankful to be a
part of God's work!!!

Attached is a summary of our last Roma family camp we just had.It is written in
Microsoft word.

We love you guys and we want to hear from you.
Z Bogiem, Jerry

If sinners be dammed, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they
will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one GO
there UNWARNED and UNPRAYED for.

This past week we held a Roma family Camp in Bialka Tatrzanska. Poland.  We had 57 people for this all-national camp. Our family and a Polish young woman along with several Roma believers shared the Gospel message daily with the entire group. We held daily Bible studies (using the Gospel of John) we had a time of worship, including several testimonies, and always the word of God was shared.
I had a group of 15 Roma from a village back out from coming to the camp on arrival to the camp. I quickly went to a near by Roma village and persuaded 15 of the roughest and toughest young men and a few women to come to the Family camp to fill the 15 vacant beds. They reluctantly came to the camp. At first there was a lot of tension at the camp. With rival clans and rough men who did not really want to hear the Gospel message again, it was a little difficult. But as always, God is in control and His plans are always perfect. As the camp program went on, the Roma people really opened up and we had a great time of fellowship. We had a lot of free time for volleyball, horseshoes, and other games and activities.
At this camp we had more difficulties of people trying to defy the "camp rules", but again, God worked as only He can do. On the 3rd day I could see God really working in several hearts and minds. Each evening we would worship and praise God with song and testimonies and God's word. The meetings were so spirit lead and filled. The meetings lasted 3 hours and more until we had to be quiet at 10pm. (per the owner's request) I would pick up Roma from another village to join us for the worship time each night. We had a total of 80-ish Roma at worship each night!!!
The 4th night was awesome. 22 people came forward for a time of prayer to recommit their lives to Jesus 100%. Then after the meeting a Roma lady told me that people were waiting in room #17 for me to return from bring a group of Roma back to their village. (They had come only for the worship service)
When I went into room #17, there were 15 people piled into this small room. There were 5 Roma men and 2 young Roma women (the tough guys that reluctantly came to the camp) who God had convicted them of their sin and they wanted salvation!! We talked, prayed and shared until 1am. It was an awesome time of brokenness because of their sin and a lot of rejoicing because of their now forgiveness of sin unto salvation!!!!!!       The next morning was our last Bible study and it was then, that a young women who had told me the day before "she did not go up and pray with the other people because she was waiting for God to speak to her heart" She stood up crying and said to the whole group, "I need to surrender my life to Jesus and ask Him to save me" She came forward and prayed to receive Jesus as her savior!! The whole room filled with around 50 people was rejoicing, crying, and praising God for His mighty power to save!! Then we had another time of rejoicing and praising God at that moment which lasted an hour!!! There were several things that happened at that camp that are too long to list in this report. But I want to conclude with this; Faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17), and many heard the word, and many hearts and souls were changed forever!!!!! All praise and Glory to our Almighty God and savior!!!!!!

Thank you, Jerry Goss and family
